Prevent Thousand$ in damages
Maintaining your heat source for optimal efficiency
- Have your furnace cleaned and serviced at least once a year. Spring/summer is a great time as your oil burner techs are entering a slower season and they have more time available to meet your most convenient time for an appointment.
- Discolored walls or ceiling near the furnace and along the chimney may mean you need additional pipe insulation or clearance.
- Check the flue pipes and pipe seams. Are they well supported and free of holes and cracks?
- Is the chimney lined? No cracks or loose bricks? Unused flue openings should be sealed with solid masonry. Routine cleanings greatly reduce the risk of a chimney fire.
- Is your wood or pellet stove on the same flue as your furnace? Proper installation is to have each on its own flue for safety.
- Pellet stoves require frequent maintenance to ensure they are working properly. Be sure to read your owner's manual for the right type of cleaning and required frequency for your unit.
- If you have a power vent, it's especially important to have your furnace cleaned twice a year to prevent puff backs and blockages.
It is much better use of your time to follow the rules and guidelines of heating units than to spend time cleaning up from a claim. We want your family to be safe too!
