What is group insurance?
Group insurance is simply personal insurance (home, renters, auto, etc.) provided at a discount to all employees of a company in a similar way to health or dental insurance, but without a cost to the employer. It is not a requirement for all employees to have to have their insurance via the group plan for it to be offered, but when they see the savings, they will want to be part of the plan!
This a great opportunity for employers to offer an employee benefit which allows their employees to save money on a required living expense; all at no cost to the employer.
My employer doesn't offer this benefit, how can we get it?
Contact your HR department and mention that you are interested in getting group insurance discounts through them and have them call us. Explain to them that having a group plan does not cost your employer any premiums, they do not need to administer the plan, and they assume no liability. If you prefer, contact us (ask for Sharon Little and mention that you are interested in getting a group insurance discount) and provide us with your HR representative's contact information and we will initiate the communication.
How does it work when my employer offers this group discount?
When we arrange with your employer to offer this great discount opportunity, we establish the best way to offer this to the employee population. The generally includes mention on your intranet, postings around the building and most commonly, we will schedule a time to go to your location to meet with everyone interested. We then collect information necessary to provide you with a quote. We return to our office with this information and put together a customized free quote for you. Once you receive your quote, you can decide whether or not you wish to take advantage of the offer. There is no pressure and no obligation.
What if I get group insurance and leave my company?
Because your policy is an individual policy (your employer has no involvement in your policies), your policy remains your own when you leave. In fact, with our Travelers group policy, you keep your discount too!
